Celebrity Cruises is a brand of luxury cruises. Lisa Lutoff Perlo is the president. She was a former senior vice president at Royal Caribbean International. She worked previously in sales at Crimson Travel. Before becoming the CEO of a major cruise company, she rose from a sales representative to Miami Sales Manager.

Royal Caribbean International

Royal Caribbean International, the parent company of the Carnival Corporation, has agreed to acquire Celebrity Cruises for $500 million in cash and $800 million in debt. The new combination will double Royal Caribbean's fleet, bringing it to 20 ships. This combined capacity gives them nearly 38,000-berths. Celebrity Cruises' current fleet consists of only 11 ships.

Celebrity Cruises also offers a dedicated area for children. However, the process of checking-in is less formal for children below the age 10. Both lines offer children's activities as well as staff with experience in working with children. Both lines offer family programs for older children that involve parents and their children throughout the day. Royal Caribbean's children's areas are more family-oriented and larger than Celebrity Cruises.

The Chandris Group

The Chandris Group merged Celebrity Cruises with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. This merger allowed Chandris Group, which was focused on operating hotels instead of ships, to sell the Celebrity Cruises brand to Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Royal Caribbean International then changed its name and became the mother of all their brands.

John D. Chandris who was born in Chios, founded the Chandris Group. It started out as a shipping company. At 25 years old, he purchased his first vessel. Within two years, he owned four ships and was able increase his shipbuilding business. Chandris's family fled to England during World War II. Chandris Cruises, his father, was there. The Charlton Steam Shipping Company, which was specialized in moving post-war refugees, was acquired by Chandris Group.

The Millennium Class

The Millennium class of luxury cruise ships are operated by Celebrity Cruises. These ships were built in Saint Nazaire, France between 1999 and 2002. The Millenniums design is focused on good food and excellent service. The Millenniums are committed to eliminating gimmicks as well as noise from the cruise experience.

Millennium class ships can accommodate fewer than 3000 passengers making them ideal for small groups. This will allow guests to experience intimate cruising. The Millennium class ships have fewer venues that the Solstice or Edge classes, which gives guests more privacy.

How To

How to keep safe while on a cruiseship

You need to know a lot before you set sail on your cruise. Behave properly onboard to avoid any problems. These safety tips will make your trip more enjoyable.

  1. Always be aware of what is happening around you. People tend to gather together on cruise ships, especially at meals. You can easily become distracted by the chatter and food of others. This should not distract from what you are supposed do. If you spot someone using dangerous substances, such as smoking or alcohol, let them know politely.
  2. You should always keep your roomkey close by you when you board the vessel. You'll be easily found if something happens. Your passport is also important.
  3. Your valuables should be kept out of reach. Most cabins include drawers under the beds. You can store important documents such as passports and credit cards. Also, make sure nothing valuable is visible in plain view. Put your bags away in the closet so no one can see them.
  4. Stay hydrated. While cruise ships have plenty of water, sometimes it can be difficult for passengers to remember to drink enough. Use the free bottled water that is available onboard. You should avoid becoming dehydrated. Dehydration makes you tired and cranky, leading to fights or accidents.
  5. Be attentive to all announcements. Announcements are posted everywhere, including on TV screens and public address systems. These announcements include safety procedures, emergency exits and weather reports. These announcements are important. They may save your life.
  6. Lock your cabin door before you leave it. No matter how kind a crew member might seem, your cabin should be locked. Thieves often break in through unlocked doors. Crew members can give permission to you to use the restroom if you are in need.
  7. Do not go overboard by yourself. It may take time for the crew of the ship to rescue you if you fall overboard. You may attract sharks or other sea creatures to your body while you are still on the ship's crew. You should wait until help arrives.
  8. Never smoke inside the elevator. These elevators are pressured, which means smoke can quickly build up. Get out as soon as you feel dizzy. Although the air outside may be fresh, that doesn't mean your breathing is safe.
  9. Be familiar with the evacuation procedures. Each year, thousands of people die after being trapped in elevators. Follow the screen's instructions if an emergency happens.
  10. Get familiar with the fire drill. Fire drills take place regularly, almost every day. Everyone on deck must evacuate when there is a drill. Follow the instructions of the crew members. After the drill is completed, return to your cabin and lock it.
  11. Ask questions before accepting food and drink. Cruisers are often concerned about food poisoning. Many people are unaware that certain foods cannot be eaten aboard ships. Raw oysters, for example, are not allowed on most cruise ships. If you are unsure about the safety of the food, refuse to eat it and ask for another one.
  12. Be careful when using the pool. Many people have fallen into the pools by accident. Do not be alarmed if you fall in the pool. You can also slip and fall off the deck at any moment. So always wear proper footwear and pay attention to your surroundings.
